An Ode to the Found Archive

Color Positive Slide Film, 1960s, Photographer Unknown

I derailed my day today stumbling upon these glass color positive frames from the 1960s at @creativereuse in Oakland. I must have been looking through them for 30 minutes or so, until I realized I probably needed to take a few home. I asked the person at the front who this photographer was. They kindly shrugged and said, “donations.” I carefully picked 13 to buy. Wondering, wondering, wondering. Will this be us? Where will our work end up? Will someone down the line stumble upon what we have created in whatever form it decides to live on in? “What a time”, they’ll say. “The nostalgia,” they’ll say. I paid, put them in my jacket pocket, and walked home. What a time, indeed.

Found at East Bay Creative Reuse and scanned on Epson V600. If anybody knows who the photographer is, please reach out!
